FITCHBURG -- The Cultural Council is seeking funding proposals for projects in the arts, humanities, and science fields that support city residents and the greater community.
Grants can support a variety of artistic projects and activities including exhibits, festivals, field trips, short-term artist residencies, performances, workshops, lectures and more. Organizations, schools, and individuals are all encouraged to apply. Grant season opened Sept. 1. The deadline for applications is midnight Oct. 16th.
Applications are online only and can be accessed here: https://www.mass-culture.org/Fitchburg .
The council announced that Fitchburg will continue to be part of the Massachusetts Cultural Council grant pilot program. During this pilot program, the city will be making grant money available, in full, to grantees once their projects are approved.
Last year the Fitchburg Cultural Council awarded 46 grants ranging from $150 to $1,000 totaling $32,036.
Previously funded projects include: Military Band Concerts, The Blacksmith Festival, New Players Theatre Guild, Civic Days, Sizer Dance Club and many field trips to museums and cultural events for Fitchburg Youth.
The Fitchburg Cultural Council is part of a network of 329 local cultural councils serving all 351 cities and towns in the commonwealth. The Local Cultural Council Program is the largest grassroots cultural funding network in the nation, supporting thousands of community-based projects in the arts, sciences and humanities every year.
The state legislature provides an annual appropriation to the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency, which then allocates funds to each community.
