Authorities Scour Area Of Schuylkill County For Shawn Christy

August 31, 2018

Law enforcement searched the area of Skipper Dippers in Rush Twp. after an employee reported seeing fugitive Shawn Christy around the business’ dumpster Wednesday night. Deputy Robert Clark, of the U.S. Marshals Service fugitive task force, said the individual ran off when spotted at 8:45 p.m. Multiple law enforcement agencies responded quickly and searched the area, but did not find the man believed to be Christy, he said. The U.S. Marshals Service could neither confirm nor deny the man was Christy, Clark said. Christy broke into the same business last Friday and helped himself to a variety of food. He was positively identified on video surveillance in that break-in. A man matching his description broke into a home on Ben Titus Road near the Still Creek Tavern in Packer Twp., Carbon County, last Thursday. The area is just east of Rush Twp. Marshals have been looking for Christy since June 19, when he allegedly made threats against President Donald Trump and others on social media. A $20,000 reward is being offered for information leading to his capture. — KELLY MONITZ
