KAMEG busts pot growing operation in Pembroke Township

August 20, 2018

PEMBROKE TOWNSHIP — Kankakee Area Metropolitan Enforcement Group agents busted an outdoor cannabis grow of 751 plants that they estimated to have a street value of $500,000 on Sunday.

The bust was made at 7:40 a.m. Sunday at 5235 South 15000E Road.

Agents also seized equipment used in the production of plants as well as four firearms.

“The grow was being actively cultivated, with plants at various stages of growth development,” KAMEG Director Christopher Koerner told the Daily Journal.

Koerner said a cannabis plant can produce up to one pound of refined cannabis. Each one of the confiscated plants would produce $665 worth of cannabis.

No arrests have been made at this time but investigation is ongoing.
