Player of the week

Elizabeth Montes, MacArthur: junior, pitcher — Threw a no-hitter, came on in relief to earn a save during another no-hitter, allowed one earned run and had a 0.35 earned-run average, and recorded 26 strikeouts in 212/3 innings as the Brahmas went 5-0 and won the Southwest tournament.

Game balls

Southwest’s Aaliyah Ortiz batted .558 with six home runs — including a game-winner in her team’s final at-bat — four doubles, 18 RBIs, 10 runs and a .696 on-base percentage.

Warren’s Annika Litterio went 2-0 in the circle, tossing back-to-back shutouts and racking up 19 strikeouts as the Warriors opened District 28-6A play with wins over Brennan and O’Connor.

Judson’s Keely Williams batted .588 with three doubles, two triples, a home run, six RBIs, 11 runs, five stolen bases, a .667 on-base percentage and a 1.176 slugging percentage.

Holy Cross’ Brianna Rangel batted .583 with a double, triple, two home runs and a 1.333 slugging percentage.
