KENT, Ohio (AP) _ Nate Huffman scored 24 points to lead Central Michigan to a 75-63 victory over Kent in the Mid-American Conference on Wednesday.

Kent (9-16 overall, 7-10 MAC) led the first seven minutes of the game, but Central Michigan (7-18, 4-13) tied the game 16-16 on a 3-pointer by Walter Green, with 12:54 remaining.

Craig Glenn then made a 3-pointer with an assist by Ed Norvell to push Kent ahead 19-16, but Charles Macon and Nate Huffman followed with layups to give Central Michigan a 20-19 lead with 11:46 remaining.

Central Michigan stayed ahead the rest of the way, ending with a 40-30 halftime lead.

Kent was never able to take the lead in the second half. Central Michigan led by as 14 points with 1:09 remaining.

Macon added 19 points, and Green scored 12 for Central Michigan.

Kent's scoring was led by Scott Effertz with 15 points. Art Robertson added 13.

Central Michigan made 27 of 37 free throw attempts, while Kent made only 11 of 16. Central Michigan outrebounded Kent 48-44, but Kent had 13 assists compared with 11 by Central Michigan.
