Relay Teams, Andover Shine for Billerica
NORTH ANDOVER — The Central Catholic boys track team won the Division 2 East championship Saturday at Merrimack College.
Central won with 108 points, edging North Andover, which had 105. Rounding out the top 10 were Woburn (37), North Attleboro (42.5), Billerica (37), Concord-Carlisle (35.5), Mansfield (34), King Philip (32), Walpole (32) and Somerville (31).
On the girls side, North Attleboro won with 82 points.
Rounding out the top 10 were North Andover with 67, Walpole with 48, Hingham with 46, Central Catholic with 46, Hopkinton with 43, Sharon with 42, Milford with 37, Woburn with 37 and Billerica with 35.
The Indians’ 4x400 relay team of Rodrigo Freitas, Shawn Stairs, Thomas Dinsmore and Stephen Harris won in 3:25.32.
Harris sprinted to second in the 200 in 22.13.
Stairs took third in the 400 hurdles in 56.24. In the shot put, Phillip Xu placed third (47-4) and then he was fourth in the discus (130-9).
Freitas was seventh in the 400 in 51.28. In the 800, Dinsmore and Gachau Kabugu were ninth and 10th, respectively. John Holden took ninth in the two mile in 9:56.58.
Nicole Anderson won the 800 in 2:14.41 and Sam Maffeo was fourth in 2:18.00.
Billerica’s 4x400 relay team of Leithsa Dimanche, Hannah Doherty, Sam Maffeo and Anderson was victorious in 3:56.89.
Doherty ran to fifth in the two mile in 11:22.29.
The 4x800 relay squad of Deidra Anderson, Rylie Derosa, Sydney Diorio and Sadie Hall placed 10th in 10:12.16. In the shot put, Brianna Martini was seventh with an effort of 32-0.
