Ten Die in Michigan Plane Crash
COTTRELLVILLE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) _ A plane carrying passengers on a weekend skydiving trip crashed early today, killing all 10 aboard, state police said.
The plane, which took off from Marine City Airport, broke into several pieces after it crashed just prior to 9 a.m., officials said.
Other details were not available.
A St. Clair County sheriff’s dispatcher said early today that 10 people were aboard the craft.
State police Trooper Raymond Volosky confirmed the crash later and said 10 were dead, but he would not confirm the total number of passengers aboard.
Officials from the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board were en route to the scene.
Cottrellville Township is located about 40 miles north of Detroit.
