Mattress Mack, Doggett Ford join forces on F-150 deals

May 5, 2019

One of the newest Ford dealerships in Houston has teamed up with one of the city’s most well-known — and revered — retailers.

Doggett Ford and Gallery Furniture just kicked off a cross-promotion in which buyers of new, in-stock Ford F-150s will each receive $1,000 Gallery Furniture gift cards. (The 90-day campaign does not include Raptor models.)

Doggett and Gallery’s promotion coincides with the upcoming debut, just ahead of Memorial Day weekend, of a new showroom that will feature furnishings aimed at millennials. The gift cards, good through Dec. 31, 2019, can be used at any of Gallery’s three locations.

Doggett Auto Group, a division of Doggett Industries, acquired Lone Star Ford last year and has been operating out of temporary quarters during construction of a new 10-acre facility at 9115 North Freeway. Gallery Furniture and Doggett are three freeway exits apart.

Gallery made national news in 2017 when it opened its doors after Hurricane Harvey and became an oasis for flood victims and a National Guard contingent. Gallery’s founder Jim McIngvale, who is beloved in Houston as “Mattress Mack,” told one network journalist during the crisis, “To hell with profits. Let’s take care of people. That’s how I was raised.”

Both family-owned companies have long ties to Houston. They also have connections to Fords, from the big Ford F-350 Super Duty pickups Doggett sells to haul John Deere heavy equipment, to the well-worn 1975 Ford F-150 pickup McIngvale drove when he was just starting out.

“When we first opened Gallery Furniture, my wife Linda and I delivered the furniture ourselves in an old Ford pickup,” McIngvale told the Houston Chronicle. “We’re so happy to be associated with Doggett Ford. Not only are we neighbors, but we share the same values in providing excellent customer service and great deals.”
