A.M. BestTV: The First 100 Years Were Just the Beginning, Says Starr Chairman and CEO Greenberg
OLDWICK, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jul 9, 2018--In this A.M. BestTV episode, Maurice R. “Hank” Greenberg, chairman and chief executive officer, C.V. Starr & Co. Inc. (Starr), traces the roots of his organization, which came into existence nearly 100 years ago, and how he aims to build the next global insurance powerhouse. In the episode, Greenberg focused on his company’s prominence in Asia’s insurance markets.
“Being active in the world markets, particularly in Asia, has really benefitted Starr,” Greenberg said. “Asia is a growing area of the world.”
However, Greenberg noted that evolving regulation, particularly in China, still can create challenges.
“In China, at this moment, it’s a little more difficult unless you’ve been there for a long time and you know your way around,” said Greenberg. “I would say that China has loosened up quite a bit though in the last couple of years.”
Greenberg also said he believes the United States and China eventually will sort out trade issues.
“I think that we need patience and I hope we can solve it over a period of time. Both sides would lose if we did not. My guess is it will be resolved,” he said.
