NBC’s ‘Santa Barbara’ Leads Daytime Emmy Nominations
NEW YORK (AP) _ NBC’s ″Santa Barbara″ soap opera was nominated in 13 categories Thursday and CBS’ ″As the World Turns″ in 12 for the Annual Daytime Emmy Awards.
The two soaps will compete with four others for outstanding drama series: ABC’s ″All My Children″ and ″General Hospital″ and ″Guiding Light″ and ″The Young and The Restless,″ both on CBS.
″The Young and the Restless″ was nominated in 10 categories and ″All My Children″ was nominated in seven.
For children, ″Pee-Wee’s Playhouse″ on CBS, with eight nominations, edged PBS’ ″Sesame Street″ with seven.
There were 188 nominations: 68 for CBS, 38 for NBC, 26 for ABC, 25 for PBS, 21 for syndicated programs and 10 for shows produced for cable television.
Winners will be named June 29 by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

-Children’s series: ″Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood,″ PBS; ″Newton’s Apple,″ PBS; ″Reading Rainbow,″ PBS; ″Sesame Street;″ and ″3-2-1 Contact,″ PBS.
-Lead actress in a drama series: Susan Lucci, ″All My Children;″ Elizabeth Hubbard, ″As The World Turns;″ Marcy Walker, ″Santa Barbara;″ and Jeanne Cooper, ″The Young and The Restless.″
-Lead actor in a drama series: James Mitchell, ″All My Children;″ David Canary, ″All My Children;″ Douglass Watson, ″Another World,″ NBC; Larry Bryggman, ″As the World Turns;″ and A. Martinez, ″Santa Barbara.″
-Supporting actress in a drama series: Debbi Morgan, ″All My Children;″ Arleen Sorkin, ″Days of Our Lives,″ NBC; Jane Elliot, ″Days of Our Lives;″ Robin Mattson, ″Santa Barbara;″ and Nancy Lee Grahn, ″Santa Barbara.″
