Simpson Denies University Invite
LOS ANGELES (AP) _ O.J. Simpson said Friday he was never invited to lecture at a criminology class at California State University, Fullerton, despite a professor’s claim that he had invited Simpson and then changed his mind.
Professor James Lasley said he had asked Simpson to address his criminology and delinquency class, but dropped the plan after the head of his department raised concerns.
Lasley said he agreed with Phillip Gianos, acting chair of the department, that the visit would require extra security and planning for an overflow crowd.
``I’ve never been asked to speak at Cal State Fullerton,″ Simpson said in a phone interview. ``This is just not true.″
Simpson was acquitted of the 1994 murders of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman. He was found liable in a civil case filed after the murders.
Said Lasley: ``He’s a walking criminology case.″
