Aiken man charged in sexual molestation investigation involving two juveniles
An Aiken man was charged Wednesday in connection with an investigation involving the molestation of two young children.
James “Jimmy” Glen Burnette, 56, is charged with two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor, according to jail records.
On Jan. 13, Aiken County Sheriff’s Office investigators reported meeting with a 27-year-old woman who claimed her two children had been sexually molested by the suspect, who she said was a childhood friend of hers.
The children’s mother told deputies she and her two kids had visited the suspect’s home, where she fell asleep on the couch. The two children later woke her up, saying they had gone into the suspect’s bedroom while she was asleep and he had touched them inappropriately.
One of the victims had recorded some of the incident on her cellphone, which she played for investigators. In the recording, deputies could hear the suspect tell the first victim, “I want you to do what I am about to do to (victim two).”
Following an investigation, Burnette was arrested Wednesday and taken to the Aiken County detention center, where he was still being held Thursday afternoon.
