Texas man arrested on drugs, weapons charges after vehicle stop
On Saturday, officers noticed a vehicle driving too close to others. This traffic stop led to the discovery of drugs and weapons in a driver’s car.
According to a Mohave County Sheriff’s Office press release, after the traffic stop, deputies smelled marijuana inside the vehicle and asked Francisco Xavier Maldonado, 30, of Thompson Station, Texas to step out of the vehicle. Once he stepped out, they checked his records and then asked if he had marijuana inside the vehicle.
Maldonado notified police that he had 10 pounds inside of a duffel bag and upon further inspection, officers found 13 packages of with one pound of marijuana in them, a pound of THC wax and two handguns inside the vehicle.
According to a press release from the Sheriff’s office, Maldonado will be charged with 3 felonies: transporting marijuana, narcotic drug possession, and possession of weapon in use of a drug offense.
He was booked in Mohave County Jail.
