Ex-school counselor sentenced to 3 years in rape of student
WOBURN, Mass. (AP) — A former Massachusetts high school counselor has been sentenced to 3 ½ years in prison for sexually assaulting a 15-year-old student.
WFXT-TV reports 33-year-old Jenna Tarabelsi was sentenced Thursday after a jury previously found her guilty of two counts of rape of a child.
Tarabelsi was a career counselor at Medford Vocational Technical High School from 2012 to 2015. Prosecutors say she assaulted the student in 2014 in a parking lot after school.
She was suspended by the school when officials learned of the alleged assault in 2015.
Tarabelsi’s attorney, Juliane Balliro, says she was pleased her client was acquitted of some charges but plans to appeal the jury’s verdict.
