SINGERS BRACE FOR COLD AT MACY’S THANKSGIVING DAY PARADE

NEW YORK (AP) — With the giant balloons having a good chance of being grounded because of high winds, the focus on the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade may end up being the singers lined up for the event. While little can be done to protect them from the elements, the singers will get some help from heaters and sound systems built into their floats. Close to two dozen performers are on the bill, including John Legend, Leona Lewis, Diana Ross, Martina McBride, Ashley Tisdale, Barenaked Ladies, Pentatonix, Sugarland and Tegan Marie.

JIMMIE ALLEN MAKES COUNTRY MUSIC HISTORY

NEW YORK (AP) — Jimmie Allen has made history as the first black artist to have his debut single hit No. 1 on country radio. And he says achieving that milestone makes him “filled with gratitude and motivated to work even harder.” Allen co-wrote “Best Shot,” which appears on his debut album. The feat happened the same week that Kane Brown, who is of mixed race, has captured the top country and pop album in the U.S.

TEKASHI 6IX9INE - ATTORNEY CLAIMS RAPPER IS INNOCENT

NEW YORK (AP) — The defense attorney for rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine says his client is “completely innocent” of federal racketeering and firearms charges. The rapper is being held without bail, one of five people indicted this week on charges he directed or participated in violent acts as part of a deadly gang known as the 9 Trey Bloods. The indictment alleges that the violent episodes involving 6ix9ine included the July shooting of a bystander in Brooklyn and the gunpoint robbery of one of the gang’s rivals last spring. For their part, prosecutors note that violence seems to stalk the entertainer. He has spoken openly about his gang affiliation — and said 10 shots were fired into a California home where he was filming a music video a week ago.

GLEN CAMPBELL - HEIRS

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Three of country singer Glen Campbell’s children have dropped their fight to contest the validity of two of the late country music legend’s wills. The Tennessean newspaper reports the siblings agreed Monday to let the matter go — but the legal filing in probate court stating such provides no details as to why the challenge is being dropped. Travis, Kelli, and Wesley Campbell contested the singer’s capacity to agree to 2001 and 2006 wills — documents that omit the three.
