Armed intruder enters home, starts fire
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — A man is facing criminal charges after police say he entered a home in Grand Forks, barricaded himself in the basement and started a fire.
Authorities say the man was armed with a knife when he entered the residence Saturday, threatened its residents and made his way to the basement. A short time later smoke detectors went off.
Residents left the home and police found the man barricaded in the basement where he had started a fire.
KFGO reports Grand Forks Regional SWAT officers were on scene and negotiators began talking with the 33-year-old man who was arrested several hours later.
