LOS ANGELES _ Dockworkers in the Port of Los Angeles are fighting use of driverless electric cargo trucks. The issue drew union members, business owners and activists to a hearing Thursday by the Los Angeles Board of Harbor Commissioners, which postponed a construction permit for the system after Mayor Eric Garcetti offered to mediate the dispute, the Los Angeles Times reported. _ CALIFORNIA WILDFIRES-REBUILDING _ An officials says that 17 months after a massive wildfire destroyed hundreds of homes in a wine country neighborhood a fully 70 percent of the properties are under construction or have been rebuilt.

_ ELON MUSK-FLINT _ Tech billionaire Elon Musk surprised students by showing up at a school assembly in Flint, Michigan, and promising to take some of them for a tour of his Space X rocket factory in California.

_ FRAUD CASE-HOMICIDE _ A suspect in a 2012 California homicide is now in jail following a fraudulent $3 purchase in Utah.

_ STOCKTON-THREE KILLED _ Police in Stockton are investigating the killings of three people who were shot Friday while sitting inside a car.

_ TRANSIT RAPE _ Los Angeles police are looking for a transient suspected of choking, punching and raping a victim in a subway station.

_ FIREFIGHTING TECH _ The Los Angeles Fire Department has deployed 1,000 hand-held thermal imaging cameras that can help firefighters locate victims in smoke-filled rooms or find fire hidden inside walls, attics and crawl spaces.
