OTAS’ annual Christmas production opens Nov. 30

November 23, 2018

In true Old Town Actors Studio fashion, “Fa, La, La, La, Fabulous: A Land of Misfit Toys and a Quest for True Belonging,” OTAS’ 10th annual holiday production, is a series of original vignettes that explores the honest and often unexamined holiday experiences of the “sorted and lonely adults — the misfits,” who live among us.

“Fa, La, La, La, Fabulous” celebrates the fact that Christmas is not a one-size-fits-all experience, nor does it passively acknowledge that “everyone” celebrates “Christmas.” In fact, with love, humor and brutal honesty, “Fa, La, La, La , La” explores life’s different battles — battle with self, battle with the outside world, battle with family, and battle with foreign enemy on behalf of country, the scars that mark our hearts, our minds and our way of being forever. “Fa, La, La, La” examines the holiday experience from different perspectives from different circumstances.

“Fa, La, La, La, Fabulous: A Land of Misfit Toys and Quest for True Belonging” was co-written and adapted for stage by Camile and Steven Thomsen with revisions “in drag” by Casey Wynn and Jerron Hansen. Directed by Camile Thomsen, assistant director Sean Grayson and musical director Dr. K.C. McGee.

An outstanding community ensemble of 18-plus, led by the fearless Drag Queen duo of Spyke and Nikki Naugahyde, “Fa, La, La, La” will run Nov. 30, Dec. 1, 3, 10, 7, 8, 14 and 15 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $12 and can be reserved by calling the OTAS box office at 208-478-6886. This show is strongly recommended for individuals 18 or older for language and adult content.
