Police Track Suspect in Lowell Shooting; Car Abandoned
LOWELL -- Police are tracking a man involved in a shooting that took place on Phoenix Avenue in the city’s Belvidere neighborhood at around 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
The condition of the shooting victim was not immediately available.
The suspected shooter’s vehicle was found abandoned on Interstate 495 northbound near the Route 133 exit in Tewksbury roughly two hours after the shooting, according to an emergency radio broadcast. A K-9 Unit was called to the scene to help track the suspect.
The shooter is described as a white male, 6 feet tall, 220 pounds and wearing a brown jacket. The suspect, who was driving a Hyundai Tiburon, is armed and dangerous, according to the emergency radio broadcast.
Shortly after the shooting came over the radio broadcast, police vehicles gathered around Millennium Plating Company Inc., located at 75 Phoenix Ave.
Officers on scene differed comment to Lowell Police Department’s public information officer, who was not immediately available.
