MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) _ Janell Burse scored 34 points and grabbed 21 rebounds Saturday as No. 20 Tulane defeated Memphis 87-67.

Burse connected on 11-of-15 field goals and 12-of-16 free throws as the Green Wave (23-3, 12-3 Conference USA) clinched the conference’s National Division title.

Burse’s 21 rebounds tied a school record, helping Tulane held a 52-33 advantage on the boards.

Sarah Goree and Grace Daley added 17 each for Tulane, which held Memphis (15-10, 9-5 CUSA) to one field goal during a seven-minute stretch late in the second half.

Melissa Abraham led Memphis with 19 points, while Tiffany Adkins added 12. Yolanda Reed finished with 11, but hit only 4-of-12 shots from the field.

The Green Wave relied on Burse’s inside play through much of the game and led 36-33 at the half.

Memphis took the lead, 57-56, with 9:24 to play.

But Burse scored inside twice and Goree hit a pair of 3-pointers, giving Tulane a comfortable lead. The Green Wave outscored Memphis 21-4 over the next 7 1/2 minutes to gain a 77-61 lead.
