CINCINNATI (AP) _ Struggling right-handed reliever Mike Burns was optioned to Triple-A Louisville on Wednesday before the Cincinnati Reds completed their three-game series against the Florida Marlins.

The Reds called up left-hander Michael Gosling from Louisville to take his spot.

Burns had a 7.56 earned run average in seven appearances, and had given up at least one run in each of his last three outings. Former Reds general manager Dan O'Brien claimed Burns off waivers from Houston in November.

Heading into Wednesday's game, opponents were hitting .343 off Reds relievers.

Gosling was 1-0 with a 1.64 ERA in two games for Louisville.
