Bridgeport’s City Lights Gallery hosts 15th anniversary party

Bridgeport’s City Lights Gallery says its looking forward its 15th anniversary party on Friday, April 12, when it recognizes 15 City Lights Honorees — one for every year of the anniversary.

The party starts at City Lights Gallery at 6 p.m. with a VIP reception and an art exhibit featuring end-of-the-year student art exhibit from Housatonic Community College, followed by “The Magic of Motown” benefit concert BYOB party at the adjacent Downtown Cabaret Theatre from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Honorees include:

Karen Brown, Fairfield County’s Community Foundation, Vice President, Innovation and Strategic Learning; Phil Kuchma, Kuchma Corp, founding board member City Lights & Company; Thomas Errichetti, Kuchma Corp., founding board member/treasurer of City Lights & Company; Nat Plotkin, founding president of non-profit, City Lights & Company;

Steven Stafstrom, Partner Pullman & Comley, LLC, past president of City Lights & Company; Kelly Brown, visual arts teacher, Multicultural Magnet School; Alicia Robinson, director of Performing & Visual Arts and Turnaround Arts: Bridgeport; Luis Planas, principal of the Multicultural Magnet School; Steve Di Costanzo, WPKN radio, general manager; Carolyn Vermont, president of Bridgeport Rotary;

Mike Daly, retired Connecticut Post, Editoral Page Editor; Ricky Mestre, artist, founder and chair of the Bridgeport PRIDE celebration; Jane Davila, artist, curator, support staff, copy editor for the Bridgeport Art Trail and other City Lights programs; Ralph Buzzard, retired director of Bridgeport public schools’ visual arts department; Iyaba Ibo Mandingo, artist, performer, poet, facilitator of outreach programs for several years.

Tickets to the benefit concert are $25 and $50 (includes VIP Party) and support City Lights Outreach programs for youth, serving 5,000 Bridgeport area youth this academic year, through a collaboration with philanthropic organizations, partners and a host of teaching artists.
