Indiana St. 78, E. Kentucky 61

RICHMOND, Ky. (AP) _ Steve Hart scored 27 points, including a layup that ignited a 16-0 second-half run as Indiana State rallied from a halftime deficit for a 78-61 victory over Eastern Kentucky on Monday night.

After trailing 32-29 at the half, Indiana State (7-2) led by as many as 23 points over the winless Colonels (0-8).

Indiana State erased Eastern’s lead on a 3-pointer by Chad Adkins that tied the score at 38 with 15:19 to go. After falling behind 44-40, Eastern managed a tie at 44 on a shot by Shane Carnes with 13:22 remaining.

The Sycamores pulled to a 53-48 lead midway through the half, then Hart’s layup started the 16-0 spurt that put Indiana State ahead 69-48 with 4:11 to go. Nate Green had six points during the run.

Eastern got no closer than 15 points the rest of the way.

Green finished with 15 points, Michael Menser had 11 and Adkins had 10, all of his in the second half.

Carnes led Eastern with 15 points, Mark Williams added 12 and Ibrahim Myles 10. Marty Thomas, who had 10 points in the first half, did not score after a layup at the 18:50 mark and finished with 12 points.
