Buddy’s All American BBQ gearing up for two big parties
Buddy’s All American BBQ is gearing up to kick off the beginning of the summer in a big way. The local barbecue restaurant is gearing up for not one but two big parties. The will be an outdoor party celebrating the reopening of the restaurant’s deck on Saturday, May 4, staring at 7 p.m., with live music by Barry Frazee. Despite its “All American” name, Buddy’s will be going Mexican for a Cinco de Mayo party on May 5, complete with pulled pork tacos and margaritas. The restaurant is already gearing up for its weekly slate of “Bike Nights” throughout the summer.
“We have our full summer schedule booked and you can find it on our website and our Facebook page. We have two things this weekend. Our Deck Opening Party on Saturday and Cinco de Mayo on Sunday. We’re going to have a pork taco, chips and salsa, homemade guacamole, fiesta chicken & rice, and some other specials,” said Laura Booten Schultz, general manager of Buddy’s BBQ. “We will start doing our Bike Nights on May 23. The first band we have scheduled is City Heat. The Bike Nights will run each Thursday from the Thursday before Memorial Day until the Thursday after Labor Day. We close the whole parking lot to everyone but bikes and we always have live music from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m.”
Buddy’s menu includes an assortment of sandwiches including pulled pork ($6.99 quarter pound, $8.99 halfpound) and pulled chicken ($6.49 quarter pound, $7.99 half-pound). There’s also a Beef Brisket Philly ($11.99) served with onions, peppers, and monterey jack cheese. Customers can also enjoy barbecue ribs by by the halfslab ($12.99) or the full slab ($21.99). There’s also smoked brisket, regular and boneless ribs and a fried fish dinner.
“We have a lot of traditional barbecue items and we also have some things to appeal to people who aren’t huge barbecue fans or are just looking for something different. Pulled pork nachos and homemade chips are two of our biggest appetizers. Our pastrami sandwich is a newer item. We actually smoke our pastrami here on site. It’s served on rye bread with Swiss cheese and mustard,” Booten said. “We also have a special item only on Wednesdays. We have smoked wings every Wednesdays. You can get 20 wings and pitcher of beer for $19.99. My favorite wings are to mix the hot sauce and the garlic rub together. It gives just enough spice and just enough flavor. I love them with our homemade blue cheese. We are also getting ready to put in a new draft system to our bar. We will be adding four more beers to a total of 12.”
Buddy’s also does catering. There are family packs starting at $34.99 for a group of four. They can even do full-service catering for groups of 30 or more starting at $10.99 per person. Customers should call at least 24 hours ahead for a family pack. Customers looking to do full service catering should call at least two days ahead.
