Find Wreckage of Missing Jet With Four Dead Aboard
TOKYO (AP) _ Search crews on Thursday found the wreckage of a business jet, missing since the previous day, near a 3,438-foot mountain in northern Japan and recovered the bodies of all four aboard, police said.
Police spokesman Saishiro Kainuma said the crash site was located after 370 Self-Defense personnel and local police resumed searching Thursday morning near Mount Miyokenzan on Sado Island in the Sea of Japan.
The twin-engine, nine-seat MU-300 business jet belonged to the Yomiuri Shimbun, a major Japanese newspaper. It disappeared from radar just before noon Wednesday while on a training flight over Sado Island, off Niigata Prefecture (state), 160 miles northwest of Tokyo.
The four crewmen aboard, all Yomiuri employees, were identified as pilot Keinosuke Kuboyama, co-pilots Shozo Kinoshita and Yoshiaki Kadono, and ground crewman Osamu Kusunoki, Kainuma said.
