High School Roundup: Walsh’s 6 goals lead Peotone

Maggie Walsh was on another level Thursday in Peotone’s 7-0 victory against Plano.

Of those seven goals, Walsh connected with the back of the net on six of them, and teammate Carli Rickson scored the other goal and passed out five assists to Walsh.

Peotone’s record now sits at 7-2.

Beecher 4, Crete-Monee 1

Dayo Bamgbose scored two goals for the Bobcats, and Maddie McCulloch and Kate Bireline each found the back of the net.

Carah Graham recorded two assists, and Yadi Barraza had an assist.

The Bobcats are now 9-7.

Kankakee 8, Rich Central 0

Britany Martinez and Adi Pereda each connected on two goals.

Ashley Pereda had a goal and three assists, and Maya Howdeshell recorded a goal and an assist.

Kankakee sits at 5-2 on the season.


Bradley-Bourbonnais 7, Andrew 5

Evey Evans earned the win, tossing all seven innings while giving up six hits and three earned runs with four strikeouts. She went 1-for-4 at the plate with a double and three RBIs.

Madalin Evans finished 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Liz Schriner collected a single and an RBI.

The Boilers are now 9-3.

Manteno 11, Streator 1 (5 innings)

Madie Monk earned the win in five innings, allowing just five hits with six strikeouts.

Lexi Bowdish finished the game 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Kori Frickle went 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.

The Panthers are now 11-1 on the season.

Momence 8, Central 7 (8 innings)

Brooke Kelly earned the victory throwing all eight innings and surrendering nine hits with seven strikeouts.

Mya Keen collected three hits, including the game-winning single.

Kaitlyn Piekarczyk finished 3-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs.

McKenna Goldtrap suffered the complete game loss, giving up eight earned runs with six strikeouts.

Maci Romero finished 2-for-3 with three RBIs, and Alexis Waller and Reagan Panozzo each had an RBI and a run scored.

Momence is now 6-3. Central is 3-6.

Dwight 13, Watseka 2 (6 innings)

Macey Rodosky claimed victory for Dwight in three innings, giving up two hits and an earned run with four strikeouts. Her bat was just as dangerous as she finished 3-for-3 with a home run and four RBIs.

Katy Edwards went 2-for-5 with a long ball and three RBIs, and Abby Edwards was 2-for-2 with an RBI and four runs scored.

Kennedy Bauer took the loss in two innings, allowing five hits and five earned runs.

Courtney Thompson finished with an RBI for Watseka.

Dwight sits at 12-2, and Watseka is 5-5.

Milford 8, Westville 5

Kaylee Warren earned the win in 3 2/3 innings with four hits and three strikeouts. She finished 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI at the dish.

Cyandra Bennett went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, and Jaiden Lafond was 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.

Milford is now 5-3.

Herscher 4, Coal City 1

Chloe Jefferson did double duty as she pitched all seven innings and smacked a three-run homer in the Tigers’ victory.

Gabby Schultz also came up with an RBI single.

Payton Smith suffered the loss in five innings, allowing eight hits and a pair of strikeouts.

Madison Emerson finished 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI.

Trinity 11, Covenant Christian 6 (8 innings)

Sydney Reams earned the win for the Eagles in five innings of relief.

Colby McDivett collected three hits, and Bailey Bernicky and Katie Brouillet had two hits apiece.

Trinity is now 7-2.

Sandwich 13, Reed-Custer 10

Antoinette Hill suffered the loss in seven innings, surrendering 13 hits, six earned runs with seven strikeouts. She went 2-for-4 at the plate with a double with two RBIs.

Michelle Mack finished the game 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Haley Mazon was hitless but collected two RBIs.

The Comets sit at 6-3.

Joliet Catholic 15, Wilmington 1

Kelly Kucharski had an RBI as the Wildcats fell to 2-8.


Coal City 15, Herscher 5

Justin Dabulskis earned the win in six innings, allowing six hits, four earned runs and six strikeouts. Although he was hitless, he finished with two RBIs.

Austin Pullara and Blake Harseim each collected one hit with two RBIs, and Carter Copes finished 1-for-3 with homer and four RBIs.

Ryan Volk suffered the loss in 2 1/3 innings with three earned runs and a pair of strikeouts.

Tyler Jarnagin, Luke Cross and Kaden Hobly each had an RBI for the Tigers.

Coal City is 12-4, and Herscher is 12-2.

Central 10, Momence 8

Matt Balthazor took the win in three innings of relief as the Comets scored nine runs in the final three innings to secure the win.

Tyler Pelehowski finished 2-for-3 with four RBIs. Austin Boudreau went 1-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs, and Andrew Boudreau was 4-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.

The Comets are 7-4, and Momence is 4-7.

Manteno 5, Streator 2

Dan Barrios tossed all seven innings with 10 strikeouts in the Panthers’ victory. He also collected two RBIs.

Darien Bechard, Ben Riner and Matt Rose each had an RBI.

Manteno is 10-2 overall.

Milford 11, Westville 1 (6 innings)

Alex Barney went all six innings for the win and give up nine hits with six strikeouts.

Jared Schunke finished 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs, and Brady Marshino went 2-for-4 with three RBIs.

MIlford is back to .500 at 5-5.

Hunter Eastham earned the victory in 4 1/3 innings, allowing two earned runs with 10 strikeouts.

Logan Turney finished 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, and Ryan LeBlanc had two RBIs.

Nathan Wozniak had an RBI for Gardner-South Wilmington.

Beecher is now 10-2, and the Panthers are 5-4.

Sandwich 7, Reed-Custer 3

Trevor McLaughlin suffered the loss in five innings, allowing four hits and four earned runs.

Caleb LaGrange and Josh Loomis collected two hits each.

Reed-Custer is now 7-3.

Andrew 9, Wilmington 1

Conner Dempsay took the loss in four innings of work, surrendering only three hits, an earned run and three strikeouts.

Wilmington is now 4-8 on the season.

Logan Graham finished 2-for-4 with a homer and an RBI for Dwight.

Jaden Downs took the loss for Watseka.

Dwight is 4-9 and Watseka is 6-5.

The Raiders were the victim of a no-hitter as they moved to 4-8.



Olivet Nazarene 14, Roosevelt 0

All eyes were focused on Jamie Kiefer, as the Tigers’ hurler turned in a no-hitter with six strikeouts.

MaKenna Emerson and Alli Davis each finished with a home run and three RBIs.

Miranda Southwall also went yard and ended with two RBIs, and Kelly Rinker had two hits and an RBI.

Olivet Nazarene 8, Roosevelt 0

Emily Carstens picked the victory in five innings, giving up only three hits with five strikeouts. She also showed the power as she finished 3-for-3 with a homer, double and two RBIs.

Samantha Alberto went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Kelly Rinker, Alli Davis, Alyssa Pusateri and Felicia Wacasey each had an RBI.

The Tigers’ record sits at 25-9.
