LOS ANGELES (AP) _ Joel Luna Zarate's bantamweight bout with Martin Solorio ended in a technical draw Thursday night after Solorio was cut over the left eye by an accidental head butt in the second round.

By California rules, if the bout hasn't gone into the fourth round, the result is a technical draw.

Luna Zarate, of Mexico City, entered the fight ranked No. 1 among WBC and WBO super flyweight contenders. Luna Zarate, who weighed 117 pounds, has a 30-2-1 record with 23 knockouts.

Solorio, of Tijuana, Mexico, weighed 118 pounds. He has a 13-7-1 record with seven knockouts.
