Salvation Army Red Kettle kickoff is Friday
FLORENCE, S.C. -- The Florence Corps of the Salvation Army will kick off its annual kettle campaign 3:30 p.m. Friday at the organization’s family thrift store at 1721 West Palmetto Street.
This year’s festivities will include a performance by the Florence Men’s Choral Society starting at 3:30 p.m. followed by an official ribbon cutting by Sen. Hugh Leatherman at 4 p.m.
Other activities include light refreshments, door prizes and a silent auction for three pre-decorated trees that will each have a specific theme.
The Army is looking for Red Kettle volunteer groups to help with this year’s effort. The Army would especially like to hear from organizations in Chesterfield and Marlboro Counties.
This year Dec. 15 is Church Ringing Day in the Pee Dee and the Army is looking for churches and church groups to ring on that Saturday.
