SAN DIEGO (AP) _ San Diego Chargers rookie linebacker Toran James underwent exploratory arthroscopic surgery on Wednesday and doctors found no ligament or cartilage damage, the team said.

James sprained his knee in Sunday’s win against Indianapolis. He will miss Sunday’s game at Cincinnati and is listed as week to week.

Cornerback Mark Montreuil will under surgery Thursday to repair a torn ligament in his right knee and will miss the rest of the year. The Chargers signed Dorian Brew on Wednesday to replace Montreuil.

Coach Kevin Gilbride admitted that staff has discussed putting kicker John Carney on the injured reserve list, but hasn’t made a decision. Carney strained a ligament in his right knee while covering a kickoff at Seattle on Sept. 21. His replacement, Greg Davis, has kicked 12 field goals in four games.
