MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP) _ Charles Macon and Chad Guelda scored 20 points each Saturday as Central Michigan defeated Tri-State 80-66.

Guelda scored six straight points in the second half to give Central Michigan (1-0) a 57-50 lead with 10:50 to play. He was 7 of 10 from the field and 6 of 8 from the free throw line off the bench for the Chippewas.

Lars Rohlin, who had 10 points, scored the last three of the first half to give Tri-State (1-2) a 34-33 halftime lead. Rohlin hit two free throws after a foul by Guelda then hit a jumper 47 seconds before intermission.

The Chippewas led by as many as 16 twice in the second period. Macon's layup gave Central Michigan a 66-50 lead with 8:08 to play. After a Jared Boll layup, Ryan Holmes answered to put the Chippewas 68-52. Tri-State would get no closer than nine for the rest of the game.

Andrew Hinkle led Tri-State with 11 and Gaylane Scott added 10.
