SHORELINE, Wash. (AP) — Authorities have identified three deputies who killed a 55-year-man last week north of Seattle in Shoreline.

King County Sheriff's Office spokesman Ryan Abbott said Thursday that Deputy George Alvarez, Deputy Jesse Herrera and Deputy Steve Shalloway all fired at the man on Aug. 23 after he confronted them with a handgun.

Abbott says the men are part of a SWAT team that was at the home serving a search warrant related to narcotics and illegal firearms.

Abbott says just after entering the home, police were confronted by the man in a bedroom who refused to drop a handgun when ordered and instead moved toward them.

The man died at the scene. His name hasn't been released.

The officers have been placed on paid administrative leave while the shooting is under investigation.
