WASHINGTON (AP) _ John Edwards is confident quarterback Jake Delhomme will guide the Carolina Panthers to a Super Bowl win. John Kerry is counting on the New England Patriots to capture their second title in three years.

On Sunday, the Democratic presidential candidates will be just a couple of guys rooting for the home team in football's biggest game. Neither will be in Houston for the contest because of their busy campaign schedules.

Kerry, the four-term Massachusetts senator, will be watching the game in Albuquerque, N.M., site of caucuses Tuesday. Two years ago, when the Patriots stunned the St. Louis Rams for the championship, Kerry was at the game in New Orleans.

Edwards, a first-term senator from North Carolina, will be at a restaurant in Charleston, S.C. He offered a bold prediction Friday about the Panthers: ``Of course, they're going to win.''
