Man arrested in assault on security guard
A man was arrested Sunday afternoon after he allegedly assaulted a security guard in downtown Rochester.
Marcus Angelo Chamber, 22, who police said is homeless, might be facing charges of third-degree assault and disorderly conduct, according to Rochester Police Capt. Casey Moilanen.
A 57-year-old man was working security in the U.S. Bank Building, 155 First Ave. SW, about 4:20 p.m. Sunday when he saw a man pushing around furniture, according to Moilanen. The security guard reportedly asked the man, later identified as Chamber, to stop and then asked Chamber to leave.
Moilanen said the building’s policy is to take a photo of a person if they refuse to leave. The security guard went to take a photo of Chamber when he allegedly was knocked to the ground and then punched in the head three to four times, Moilanen said.
The security guard suffered a large cut to his face but declined an ambulance.
Rochester Police found Chamber in the skyway at 318 Commons. Moilanen said Chamber appeared to have fresh blood on his jacket and pants. Chamber was arrested without incident.
