Police: Deaths of 4 in Texas family ruled a murder-suicide

May 3, 2019

CEDAR HILL, Texas (AP) — Investigators have determined that a February house fire near Dallas in which three people were found dead was a case of murder-suicide involving members of one family.

Cedar Hill police Lt. Colin Chenault said Friday that medical examiners concluded that Eugene Keahey shot himself while his 17- and 15-year-old daughters were homicide victims who died from burns and smoke inhalation.

Keahey’s wife, DeAnna Keahey, also died and Chenault says her cause of death is still pending.

The 17-year-old was pulled from the home Feb. 28 and hospitalized but died several weeks later.

Chenault says fire officials have not yet concluded the fire was arson, but noted that investigators early on determined it was suspicious.

Eugene Keahey was a pastor for a church in Seagoville.
