Repairs still being made after windstorm
After last week’s windstorm downed power lines and utility poles throughout the region, some work is still being done to restore communications in parts of Skagit County.
In Day Creek, a Frontier Communications phone line that was damaged during the storm has restricted landline use for many residents, Skagit County spokeswoman Bronlea Mishler said.
Because some residents also have spotty cellphone reception in the area, the county’s Department of Emergency Management has reached out to Frontier Communications to get an estimated repair time, which may not be until Jan. 3 or Jan. 4, Mishler said.
Additionally, Interstate 5 near Bow Hill Road will be closed in both directions between 1 and 4 a.m. Sunday so Puget Sound Energy can repair a pole damaged during the storm, Mishler said.
