Puerto Rico breaks record of cruise ship passenger arrivals
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) — Puerto Rico has set a record for the number of cruise ship passengers visiting the U.S. territory on a single day.
Gov. Alejandro Garcia Padilla says more than 16,700 passengers aboard six cruise ships arrived Thursday in Old San Juan. The previous record was set Dec. 31 with nearly 15,800 passengers.
The number of cruise ships visiting the island from January through August last year increased 41 percent over the same period last year.
