A sweet sendoff for senior breakfast

Scott ShindledeckerMay 23, 2019

As they transition into becoming young adults, members of the 2019 Senior Class at Lake Havasu High School were treated to a morning breakfast that was part of graduation practice events Wednesday.

An annual tradition for several years, the freshman class worked to provide free coffee and sweets from four Havasu businesses, including Hav-A-Cup, Wild Coffee, Donut Post and Bagel Bin.

“The freshmen did a great job for us, getting two different coffee places,” said senior Shelbie Anderson. “Innovation is key and the seniors are thankful for their extra effort.”

Tatum Bracamonte explained the years-long tradition of the free breakfast.

“It’s a farewell for us and we really appreciate what they did for us,” Bracamonte said.

Havasu art teacher Kevin Bangsund, who has been in the district since 2010, said the senior breakfast has turned into quite a tradition.

“The kids (seniors) have the week off, but they are busy with graduation preparations and it’s part of a nice sendoff for them,” Bangsund said.

After breakfast, seniors filled the Performing Arts Center to watch a video/slideshow that commemorated their last four years together.

Graduation ceremonies will be held Thursday evening.
