SEATTLE (AP) _ Tiffany Longworth hit six 3-pointers and the last one put Penn State ahead for good as the No. 15 Nittany Lions edged Washington 85-82 in overtime on Saturday night.

Longworth scored 24 points and was 6-of-12 from 3-point range. Her 3-pointer from the left wing gave the Nittany Lions a 84-82 lead with 1:25 left in overtime.

Angie Potthoff scored 14 points and Helen Darling 13 for Penn State (4-0).

Jamie Redd had 23 points while Gena Pelz scored 15 and Elise Niemela 12 for Washington (0-2).

Darling’s free throw with 21.5 second left in overtime was the game’s final point.

Redd missed a 3-point attempt with 12 seconds left in overtime and Washington never got off another shot.

Darling’s three-point play with 27.4 seconds left in regulation sent the contest into overtime.

Washington rallied to take its first lead of the second half on a Redd 3-pointer with two minutes left in regulation.

Redd missed two long jumpers with in the final 10 seconds of regulation that would have broken the tie.

Penn State outshot Washington 47.5 percent to 37.5 percent, but the Huskies stayed closed by outrebounding the Nittany Lions 30-12 on the offensive boards.
