Cleveland man charged with aggravated murder in West Park shooting death

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- A Cleveland man is accused of fatally shooting another man Sunday at a home in the city’s West Park neighborhood.

Dettrick Walker Jr., 18, is charged with aggravated murder in the deadly shooting at a home on West 146th Street near Mitchell Avenue, according to court records.

Walker is not in custody but a warrant was issued Monday for his arrest.

He shot Victor Maar Jr. multiple times at the home, court records say. Maar, 35, died after being taken to MetroHealth.

Maar was found shot in the home’s living room, police said. Investigators have not provided any additional information about the shooting.

Maar is among four people killed in a 24-hour span from early Sunday to early Monday in Cleveland. Two people were found fatally shot early Sunday in a stolen car in the Cudell neighborhood, and a 94-year-old woman was beaten to death early Monday during a home invasion in the Broadway-Slavic Village neighborhood.

There have been 94 homicides in Cleveland so far in 2018, compared to 85 on the same date last year.
