Alamo Heights getting new farmers market in December
The Alamo Heights area might be primed for a new nickname: the farmers market corridor.
Officials with the Dallas-Fort Worth based Four Seasons Markets told the Express-News Thursday that they will launch a new Sunday market on Dec. 2 inside the Carousel Court Shopping Center at 1888 Nacogdoches Road in Alamo Heights.
Four Seasons operations director Matt Brown said the market that launched in San Antonio last May inside the Huebner Oaks Shopping Center, the first Four Seasons Market in San Antonio, has been so successful (with an average of 30 weekly vendors), there was a need to expand operations.
“It will keep the similar model that has made us successful with a combination of farmers offering locally sourced produce, handcrafted items and other specialty foods,” Brown said.
Brown said that Four Seasons has signed a long-term agreement with Carousel Court, and hours of operation will be every Sunday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Some of the vendors who work at the Huebner Oaks market on Saturdays will carry over into the Sunday space in Alamo Heights, which will have about 25 vendors.
Four Seasons operates with a direct customer-to-vendor model, where a full list of vendors at any given location is posted weekly prior to the opening of the market online at fourseasonsmarkets.com.
It will be the third weekly Sunday market in the area, with The Boardwalk on Broadway (4001 Broadway) and the Alamo Heights Farmers Market also in operations that day inside the Alamo Quarry Market. Both are located less than two miles away from Carousel Court.
