NYPD officer killed in crash on the way to work

NEW YORK (AP) — A New York Police Department officer heading to work has been killed in a crash on Long Island.

Newsday says the two-car crash occurred at around 6:50 a.m. on Wednesday in Lynbrook.

The officer’s name has not been made public.

The other driver was not seriously injured.

Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder discussed the crash at an unrelated news conference.

On April 11, an NYPD highway officer, Marc St. Arromand, was killed in a motorcycle crash on the Laurelton Parkway in Queens as he rode to work.
