January 7, 2019

An 18-year-old Lewiston woman was injured Friday when she attempted to avoid a vehicle on Hwy. 14 in Utica.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Taylynn Rebecca Kirtley was heading east in a 2005 Honda Accord on Hwy. 14 when a 2000 Chevrolet Blazer driven by Carter Joseph Haag, 19, of Lewiston, attempted to make a left-hand turn out of a driveway.

Kirtley swerved in an attempted to avoid Haag’s vehicle, but her vehicle struck the Blazer, according to the report.

Kirtley was taken to Winona Health with non-life threatening injuries. Haag was uninjured.

Both drivers were wearing their seat belts and alcohol wasn’t a factor, according to the report. Winona County Sheriff’s Office, Lewiston Ambulance and Lewiston Fire assisted on the call.
