Garage, vehicles destroyed in Tuesday fire
Two vehicles and a garage were destroyed Tuesday in a fire just west of North Platte.
North Platte Fire Department was called to the fire at a detached garage in the 4700 block of U.S. Highway 30 just before 10:30 a.m. At the time of the call, 911 dispatch indicated that the garage was engulfed in flames.
Smoke clouds could be seen as West 12th Street turned into the highway, and all three of the city’s fire stations responded to the fire, said Battalion Chief Jason Trimble.
“We had it under control in about 10 minutes,” Trimble said.
Firefighters entered the garage and exited covered in soot and mud. A pickup and a car parked in the two-car garage were destroyed as well as the structure, Trimble said.
No people or pets were injured.
Trimble said the cause of the fire was undetermined late Tuesday morning. Because the home is outside city limits, a state fire marshal from Ogallala would investigate, Trimble said.
