Lisman To Retire As Luzerne County Coroner
Luzerne County will have a new coroner next year for the first time since the county’s home rule charter took effect in 2012.
Longtime Coroner William Lisman confirmed Thursday that he plans to retire in the first half of 2019, likely in the spring. He has been associated with the coroner’s office since 1975 and was named acting coroner in 2012, after the county adopted a home rule form of government. He was appointed to the position full time in 2013.
Once Lisman retires, the coroner’s position will be advertised and posted, and the top three candidates for the job will be interviewed, according to county Manager David Pedri. Lisman’s annual salary is $52,099, according to county records.
