Effingham church to celebrate pastor’s 50th anniversary
EFFINGHAM, S.C. – Savannah Grove Baptist Church will celebrate the 50th anniversary of its pastor, the Rev. Ralph W. Canty Sr., next weekend.
In recognition of Pastor Appreciation Month, church members have planned a series of events.
A benefit golf tournament will be held Friday at Traces Golf Club to benefit the Haitian School Lunch Program.
That evening, the church will hold a reception at 6 p.m. and a gala at 7 p.m. at the Florence Center. The keynote speaker will be the Rev. Johnny Ray Youngblood, the senior pastor of the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church of Brooklyn, New York. The guest soloist will be Bridget A. Bazile, a soprano from New Orleans.
The celebration will culminate with a worship service at 9:45 a.m. on Oct. 21 at Savannah Grove Baptist Church. Dr. Youngblood also will deliver the morning message.
Organizers invite people from the Florence community and surrounding areas to share in the celebratory events.
