Germany wins indoor event as French celebrations cut short

GLASGOW, Scotland (AP) — Germany won the four-nation indoor International Match on Saturday after France was disqualified from the event-ending men’s 4x400 meters as its athletes celebrated overall victory.

The French were penalized for a faulty baton change, allowing Germany to top the team standings by a point. Britain and France were tied for second, and Scotland was last.

Britain was also made to pay for a disqualification, with world indoor champion Richard Kilty ruled to have made a false start in the 60 meters after twitching his arm while he waited for the gun.

British long-jumper Chris Tomlinson tore his hamstring muscle during his event, and the former world indoor silver medalist says he will miss the rest of the indoor season.
