Weekly survey shows drop in gas prices in region

June 3, 2019

BOSTON (AP) — Gasoline prices have dropped a bit in the region as the summer season takes hold.

AAA Northeast said Monday its weekly survey found self-serve regular selling for an average of $2.75 per gallon in Massachusetts and $2.81 per gallon in Rhode Island.

Those average prices are 3 cents lower than they were a week ago in both states, and below levels a year ago at this time.

AAA Northeast’s director of public and legislative affairs Mary Maguire says gas prices have been trending lower for the past month. She says forecasts of lower crude oil prices suggest drivers shouldn’t have to worry about any sudden spikes in prices at the pump during the summer.
