WUERZBURG, West Germany (AP) _ A U.S. military transporter carrying three armed missiles collided with a car on a road, killing the driver of the car and injuring two soldiers in the truck, police said.

Police sealed off the area in this central city for several hours fearing that the three ground-to-air Hawk missiles could explode.

American soldiers called to the scene inspected the missiles and determined that they were undamaged in the accident and that there was no risk of explosion, said police spokesman Fritz Buerner.

The road was later cleared and opened to traffic, he said.

Buerner said there were three American soldiers riding in the transporter. He said two were injured but could not give their condition.

U.S. military spokesmen could not be reached for comment.

Police said the accident occured when the woman driving the car crossed to the wrong side of the road.
