Western Colorado man charged in fatal overdose
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) — A second person has been charged in a fatal overdose in western Colorado.
The Daily Sentinel in Grand Junction reports 52-year-old Bruce Holder was indicted on charges of distribution of fentanyl resulting in death and distribution resulting in serious bodily injury. He appeared in federal court Tuesday, did not enter a plea and requested a public defender.
The case is tied to similar charges filed against 27-year-old Christopher Huggett of Grand Junction.
Both Huggett and Holder are indicted in the death of “J.E.” on Dec. 28 in Carbondale. The Garfield County coroner confirmed Jonathan Ellington died of fentanyl intoxication that day. A second man, identified as “Z.G.” survived a near fatal overdose.
Agent Steve Knight with the Drug Enforcement Administration says he believes the investigation will cut off a major fentanyl supply in the region.
