BLOOMSBURG, Pa. (AP) _ A former Bloomsburg University student was charged in three of a series of rapes that terrorized the campus.

Jimmy Lee Lindsey, 27, who was first arrested April 10 on burgarly charges, told authorities he committed the four rapes on and near the campus between December 1991 and December 1992, state police said. He recanted the next day.

On Wednesday, he was charged with three rapes. State Police Capt. Wesley Waugh said there was insufficient evidence to charge Lindsey in the fourth.

Genetic tests linked Lindsey to semen samples taken from the rape victims, according to an affidavit filed with the court.

Lindsey was jailed in lieu of $300,000.

In December, Michael Boykin, the husband of the university's police chief, was charged with a rape that police consider in a separate attack. It was one of two rapes that month. He is free on bail.
